Is Spaceworks Tacoma a non-profit?
Spaceworks Tacoma is an Associated Program of Shunpike and operates as a 501(c)3 organization. Any donations to Spaceworks Tacoma are tax-deductible.
Who supports Spaceworks Tacoma?
Currently, support and funding is provided by the founding agencies (City of Tacoma, Shunpike, and Chamber of Commerce) and the backbone of the program, property owners who provide free space. We are seeking funders, volunteers, and more properties to strengthen and grow the program.
Where is Spaceworks Tacoma located?
The Spaceworks Tacoma office is located at the City of Tacoma Municipal Building (747 Market Street) in the Community & Economic Development Department’s Art Program with a satellite location at Shunpike’s Tacoma office Suite 133.
How is Spaceworks Tacoma administered?
Staffing for Spaceworks Tacoma is provided as in-kind from the City of Tacoma, Shunpike, and Chamber of Commerce with a Spaceworks Tacoma Coordinator and additional professional staff to insure successful administration.
Who oversees the project?
Spaceworks Tacoma is guided by a steering committee made of representatives from the partnering agencies (City of Tacoma, Shunpike, and Chamber of Commerce) however we are looking to expand the steering committee as the project grows.
How do you choose participants?
Participation is competitive. Applications are received and reviewed by a panel who select the artists based on quality of work, strength of proposal, appropriateness for the available spaces, and relationship to the mix of other resident artists.
